Refund Policy
1The policy
AdmitMap sells two one-time digital products: the Odds Report ($19) and Odds + Financial Aid ($29). Both are generated from the profile you enter and delivered to you immediately after payment.
Because the product is delivered instantly and in full, all sales are final and purchases are not refundable, except in the circumstances described in section 3.
By completing a purchase you confirm that you are buying digital content with immediate delivery and — to the extent your local law allows — you agree to begin receiving it right away.
2Why all sales are final
We would rather explain this than hide it in legal text.
An AdmitMap report is not a subscription or a service delivered over time. It is a calculation run against your profile and shown to you in seconds. Once you have seen your odds at every school on your list, your estimated net price, and your position against admitted students, you have received the entire product. There is nothing to return and nothing we can take back.
This is standard for instantly-delivered digital goods, and it is what lets us charge $19 instead of the $3,000 a private counselor charges for the same kind of analysis.
3When we do refund
Two situations, and we honour both without argument:
- We failed to deliver. If you were charged but never received your report, or a technical fault on our side meant it did not work and we could not fix it, we refund you in full. No time limit on this one — if it is our failure, it is our failure.
- The law requires it. If mandatory consumer-protection law where you live gives you a non-waivable right to a refund or to withdraw from the purchase, that right applies regardless of anything in this policy.
We also refund duplicate charges — if you were billed twice for the same report, tell us and we will return the second payment.
Payments are processed by our payment provider acting as Merchant of Record. They may also issue a refund at their own discretion under their own policies, and nothing here limits that.
4How to reach us
Email support@admitmap.com from the address you used to buy, and include:
- what went wrong, in as much or as little detail as you like;
- your order or license key, if you have it.
A real person reads every message, usually within a couple of days. If something is broken we would much rather fix it or refund you than have you fighting with your bank — so please write to us first. We have never refused a genuine delivery failure.
5Before you buy
Since refunds are limited, here is exactly what you are getting — so nothing is a surprise.
Your report gives you statistical estimates, not predictions. A low number is not a defect. If your odds come back lower than you hoped, the report is working correctly — that is the information you paid for, and it is more useful to know it now than in March.
Specifically, the following are not grounds for a refund:
- your acceptance probabilities were lower than you expected;
- you disagree with an estimate, an essay score, or an activity score;
- a college's actual decision differed from our estimate;
- your actual financial aid package differed from our estimate — these are modelled from published averages and always labelled as estimates;
- you changed your mind after seeing the report.
All of this is set out in more detail in section 4 of our Terms of Service, which is worth two minutes before you buy.
6Chargebacks
If you believe a charge is wrong, please email us before contacting your bank. We can usually resolve it the same week, and a chargeback takes months and helps nobody.
Opening a chargeback without contacting us first may result in your access to AdmitMap being closed. We will always provide our payment provider with delivery records when a claim is disputed.
